When I woke up this morning and didn't hear the blaring of sirens; when I went out and didn't see soldiers line up the streets in anticipation of the arrival of the President and their Commander-in-Chief; when I looked round and saw that the streets were empty and devoid of any sign of a political rally despite the exaggerated hype given to the Abia APC rally billed to hold today in Umuahia, I knew something was amiss. I immediately sensed all was not going to be well with the rally just as it has always been for APC rallies throughout the federation.
To the chagrin of Abia APC members who had jubilated prematurely and mocked every other person not affiliated to APC over the anticipated presence of Buhari in Umuahia today, the President, as expected, did not show up.
How will he show up and be seen to be so grossly associated with political brigands who frittered our commonwealth away when they held sway as governor of Abia State between 1999 - 2007? Who in his right senses will want to be seen promoting Orji Uzor Kalu in public after he ran away to Germany under the guise of being sick just to evade justice for the alleged embezzlement of the humongous sum of N7.2bn of our common patrimony, an amount that covered nearly a whole year's federal allocation to the State during his tenure?
Except those who do not see anything wrong in the attempted creation of a failed dynasty by the Orji Uzor Kalus with our collective wealth, everyone who has a modicum of integrity, no matter how small, will always avoid Orji Uzor Kalu and all those he attempts futilely to foist on the state like a plague.
So it is not surprising to discerning Abians that President Muhammadu Buhari cannot bring himself to the level of OUK and his cohorts no matter how much they try to hoodwink him into such misadventure.
Let Abia APC be reminded that this is the second time in as many attempts that the president would be touted with so much noise as coming to Abia for their always ill-fated political rallies without him showing up. If Buhari can so overtly display such disdain for Orji Uzor Kalu with the damaging prosecution by EFCC hanging around his neck, it is an unspoken verdict that no matter how much OUK tries, his attempts to foist himself on Buhari is a waste of time. Except for the deceived and the fraudulent, OUK has no value in Abia, hence, he has lost every election he contested since leaving Abia State government house, and Buhari knows this!
