Alex Otti has simply exposed himself as one who does not know that getting such investment in place with the calibre of global business entities in the mould of the China-based Ruyi Group, the world’s leading textile manufacturers who is also committing a humongous sum of $2.5bn investment into Geometric Power Ltd to ensure the provision of steady power supply to the City, does not take election period to achieve. What Otti is seeing on ground now is the result of nearly two years of hardwork by Dr Okezie Ikpeazu. He even said this administration’s achievements in the promotion of SMEs are mere propaganda. How much more wicked can a man be to his people in the name of politics!

Alex Otti who has always been known to be a ‘visitor’ to Abia coming to the state only for political rallies and social events once in a while referred to Aba as a ‘ghost town’? That is the same Aba that is universally known as the commercial hub of the entire southeast if not the whole of Nigeria and West Africa! Confirming his ‘visitor’ status to Abia, Otti declared on TV: “Aba is a ghost town. I was there two weeks ago”. He was “there” two weeks ago and we might likely not see him again in Abia until another two months’ for the governorship election in March. That is the man that wants to rule the State; he wants to rule Abia from Lagos and make the state an added appendage of the Lagos dynasties.

Probably the most outlandish of all Alex Otti’s false claims in that interview was that there is so much insecurity in Abia State that people are leaving the state for neighbouring Akwa Ibom State where he claimed they reside and from where they do business in Abia. Nothing can be further from the truth. The fact is that Abia has always been rated as one of the safest states in Nigeria ever since Ikpeazu became governor of the State.

In a report by Vanguard newspaper on March 11, 2018, for violent crimes committed in states for the first three months of 2018, while Anambra recorded 18 crime-related deaths, Imo 4, Enugu 4, Ebonyi 3, while Abia recorded 1, but the same Akwa Ibom where Alex Otti claimed Abians are relocating to recorded 16. The more Alex lies the more he cheapens himself.

While Otti reeled out the figure of 12,408 as the number of crimes committed in Abia State in 2017, quoting the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), he deliberately ignored telling the world that that figure was only 9.2% of the crimes committed in the entire country for the period under review. He deceitfully chose not to mention the fact that the report indicated that Lagos where Otti has chosen to hibernate recorded the highest crime rate with 50,975 crimes making a huge percentage of 37.9%. Is it not then both ironic and tragic that Alex Otti stated that Abia is insecure and that is why, according to him, people are leaving, but he himself is living in Lagos, a state that has the highest crime rate in the entire federation, so comfortably? Why has he not relocated from there? Hypocrisy is a disease!

The question is, why does Alex Otti hate Abia so much that he is always ready to twist facts and figures and manipulate them according to his own whimsies and caprices just to suit his delusional narratives? Why?

What Alex Otti also deliberately ignored to tell the world because he was too desperate to score cheap political points with statistics that are obviously beyond his understanding is that such non-life threatening issues as “concealment of birth, receiving stolen properties and failure to pay tax as and when due, were all part of the indices of crime used by NBS to arrive at the figures. And with Abia having so much rural areas where births are hardly registered contributed to that number. But the alarm Otti raised was to put fear in the people by twisting the facts behind the figures to make it look like Abia is a no-go area.

That the cock crowed thrice and Peter denied Christ, our Lord, does not mean that Alex Otti should keep denying Abia’s rightful place of pride in the community of states simply because he wears the cock on his shirts as his party’s logo. May I plead with Otti’s friends to help him regain his sanity by ensuring he no longer wears any attire that has the cock on it as a logo so that he stops thinking he has to lie or deny the good things Dr Okezie Ikpeazu is doing in Abia State each time he sees the cock.

For the children of Israel, it was "When I see the blood, I will pass over you". But for Alex Otti, it seems he says to himself, " When I see the cock, I will lie against you". May God save him!
