Ikpeazu |
The Deputy National Chairman of the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) South, Chief Sam Nkire, has said he was sure Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State would easily win his re-election in 2019 going by the level of development he has brought to the state.
According to a statement he issued in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, Nkire said he was quite sure the people of Abia State would not forget to pay Ikpeazu with a resounding victory in order to encourage him to do much more.
He further commended the Abia State Governor especially for the monumental facelift he is giving Aba town, the commercial capital of the state, adding that Aba was on the way to regaining its name as the Japan of Nigeria.
The former member, Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Congress and Leader of the Abia State APC Caucus, also appealed to unpaid workers or pensioners to bear with Governor Ikpeazu, adding that their problems would soon be solved.
Meanwhile, Nkire has advised Governor Ikpeazu to perish the idea of leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC any time soon.
Nkire, who agreed that Ikpeazu could win in any political party he joined, however said the Governor might be “jumping from frying pan to fire” should he leave a more stable PDP to a crisis torn APC, which he also described as “a burning house”.
According to the R-APC chieftain, it would have been more profitable for Ikpeazu to join the APC before the nationwide congresses which produced parallel structures in more than 20 states of the federation, including Abia State.
Nkire told Ikpeazu to keep working hard as, according to him, “only your good work will speak for you on the election day”.
