There is jittery and palpable tension in the camp of the clueless Abia opposition as the indefatigable Governor,Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu bags the Vanguard Man of the Year Award.
Dr Ikpeazu,according to the reputable national newspaper, is being recognized for his exceptional leadership qualities.
Since the Governor was singled out for this special honour and recognition, eminent Nigerians and political associates have flooded the media space with congratulatory messages. But this might not be the same with the insatiably bitter opposition whose trademark has been to demonize and demarket the rapidly developing state.
A source tells Abia Gazette :"There is jittery in the camp of the Abia opposition. They are very much worried that Governor Ikpeazu's approval rating is souring to the havens despite their coordinated attack on his pro-development governance style.Their strategy has been to rubbish the hard-working Governor by disseminating outright falsehood about the rather popular administration". But it now appears the plot to pull Ikpeazu down has failed woefully with the critical public and ,independent media applauding his giant strides in the the areas of infrastructure development, promotion of Made in Nigeria good and services as well as entrepreneurship support.
The Common Governor,as he is fondly called,is equally being hailed for his signature efforts in all sectors of governance . A positive legacy that has won him equal friends and foes.
Shortly after the Vanguard prestigious award came yet another one from the influential Authority newspaper who adjudged him their Man of the year in time for the journal of record,the Bulletin Best Governor of the year 2017.
Elected the fourth Executive Governor in 2015, Dr Ikpeazu who has been massively endorsed for a second term,would be remembered
for non discriminatory transformation of Abia God's Own State which he has effortlessly turned to a huge construction site.
This is one of the many other reasons he was awarded the Vanguard Man of the year amid similar prizes coming from many other publications.
