VANGUARD AWARD: PDP Congratulates Ikpeazu

The Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State feels justifiably elated that what it saw and has continued to see in its Leader and Governor of the State; Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.d, has not only been seen but very frankly amplified by Vanguard Newspapers.

It is a sad commentary that political opposition in this part of the global clime is tied to pretentious blindness and deafness. No matter how honestly and transparently a Governor that loves his people endeavours to render services that are easily verifiable and quantifiable, the opposition will always falsely raise alarm, timidly pointing at a direction that when followed merely for the sake of giving them a sense of belonging, would only end up at unveiling an unpublicized achievement of the Governor.

Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu of Abia State only came out from the Court day before yesterday, that was Friday 13th April, 2018. From the first day as Governor on May 29th, 2015, he has been dragged from one court to the other, up to this last Friday.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is the first Governor in the whole of Sub-Sahara Africa to have been made to appear three times by three different persons before the Supreme Court of his country on the same election. Yet, he came out victorious in all!

The worrisome, though funny, aspect of the litigation stemmed mainly from the very fact that the bone of contention was payment of tax which in the first place should not have arisen because Governor Ikpeazu was a public servant whose tax was deducted at source under Pay As You Earn; PAYE, before he resigned to contest election and secondly and even more importantly, the fact that payment of tax is not a constitutional requirement for election in Nigeria.

The above notwithstanding, the opposition, driven by avarice,  greed for power and incurable bitterness, went to any length their malnourished and feeble legs could take them to see if they could stir up the hornet's nest.

They knew that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu towers high and higher above them in any and every material particular but, out of ignorance and intractable animosity, they negatively forged ahead with their evil machination.

In their infantile myopia, they thought they could achieve two devilish objectives; (1) attracting attention by going to courts and(2) distract Governor Ikpeazu from focussing on his five pillars of governance.

Unfortunately for them and shame unto them, the Governor does not belong to their class of destructive politicians. He, therefore, refused to come down to their level.

While he assembled the best lawyers in the country in order not to allow the law to be turned upside down on account of inexperience and lack of professional dexterity, the Governor was busy embarking on and completing projects after projects.

Swiftly in less than three years, Governor Ikpeazu has delivered fifty projects on road Infrastructure, with more than fifty others at various stages of completion.

Because of the peculiar circumstances and probable mentality of the black man, attention of the governed is focussed more on road Infrastructure than other sectors of governance.

Many persons do not know that Governor Ikpeazu has equally broken records and is setting new ones in agriculture, health, education and trade and investment. His commitment to human capacity development is next to none.

Yet, the opposition, infested with diarrhea of the brain and mouth would derisively ask, what is his administration doing?

Such a question that emanates out of mischief of a frustrated mind does not require any answer.

None the less, the Vanguard Group of Newspapers has, last night at Eko Hotels, Lagos, painstakingly and evidently professionally, through quantifiable and easily verifiable documentaries, answered, in the kindest of manner, that question.

The Vanguard Award of Governor of the Year on Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu of Abia State is one well earned and well deserved.

The PDP in Abia State joins millions of well wishers and broad-minded people who appreciate and applaud genuine efforts at governance to say a Big Congratulations to her Leader and Governor of the State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.d. To God be the glory!

State Publicity Secretary.
