Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has assured Nigerian youths that their demands towards ending the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and Police brutality in the country would be adequately communicated to the presidency.
Dr. Ikpeazu gave this assurance while addressing some Nigerian youths who came to Government House, Umuahia, on Tuesday, to protest against #EndSars and Police brutality across the country.
He said that the State Government must send their message and impressions to the Federal Government have noted their position on the matter.
The Governor who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Associate Professor A. C. B Agbazuere called for the sanitization of the society starting from individuals to the Police and other security agencies reiterating that the society is polluted and what is seen today is as a fall out of the polluted society.
He maintained that the government cannot compromise the fight against crime because of some bad eggs in the security agencies, and stressed the need for all to join in the fight against crime.
While thanking them for conducting themselves in an orderly manner as well as urged them to stop further protests since the message would be communicated appropriately, the State Chief Executive advised youths to avoid crims and other criminal activities.
Earlier in their separate speeches, some of the protesters including Henry Nna and Chioma Kalu said they joined their fellow youths across the country in the campaign against the ending of SARS and Police brutality on Nigerian youths and expressed confidence in Governor Okezie Ikpeazu's ability to send their message across to the federal government.
According to the youths, the right of innocent youths has been trampled upon hence the demand for an end to the incessant brutality meted out on Nigerians by security agencies.
The protesters handed over the #EndSars and Police brutality fliers and placards to the Governor's representative.
