COVID-19: James Ume Donates PPEs To FMC, Umuahia



An Abia born philanthropist, Mr. James Ume, has through his Unubiko Foundation donated 830 pieces of Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) to the FMC Isolation Centre,  Umuahia.

Speaking during the handing over of the equipment to the Chief Medical Director of Federal Medical Center Umuahia, on Tuesday, the  Program Coordinator of the Foundation, Dr. Benjamin Isani said the gesture is aimed at supporting the efforts of the State government in the fight against COVID-19.

Dr. Isani who commended the efforts of the state government at curbing the spread of the dreaded pandemic disclosed that the PPE's donated will aid in protecting the medical personnel at the isolation centers.

He further maintained that Covid-19 is real and recommended that all should adhere strictly to the protocols established in the fight against the virus, present themselves voluntarily for testing, avoid self-medication, disregard misleading information about Covid-19 among others.

He further commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the strategies adopted in creating awareness through which the majority of Abia residents are now aware of the pandemic assured that the Foundation will continue to support the state government in the fight against Covid-19.

The Program Coordinator equally hailed Governor Ikpeazu for bracing up to the challenges of Covid-19 by providing testing equipment and training of managers of the novel disease, distributing palliatives to various Abia groups among others, and called on all to identify their responsibilities as well as act accordingly.



Receiving the equipment, the Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre Umuahia, Dr. Azubuike Onyebuchi appreciated the founder of Unubiko Foundation, Mr. James Ume for his philanthropic gestures as well as his support towards curbing the spread of the virus across the state assured him that the equipment will be used judiciously.
