Leadership is about service to the people. It is about burden bearing to assuage the pains of the led. It is equally starving oneself to feed the hungry people in the vicinity.
Fred Idika fitted into the mould of a service driven leader since 18/12/19 when he hit the ground running after his inauguration as the Transition Chairman of Ohafia Local Government.
Without any state allocation, he commenced the grading of roads which included the hitherto impassable Ihenta road, Timber -Asaga Road, Nkwebi -Agboji Abiriba road, Nguzu junction - Nkporo road. All these were within the first 7 days in office.

In January, 2020, he commenced the reconstruction of the dual lawn tennis courts at council Secretariat to revive sporting activities in the area. While that was ongoing, the transition Chairman fixed canopies on the council pavilion to alleviate the pains of the sun rays during events. Realizing the importance of the Office of the Head of Service, Hon Idika bought a brand new Toyota Corolla car for HoS use to facilitate her official functions.
A worker friendly leader. The Chairman worked assiduously to recall all the staff of the local government who were punitively transfered out of the local government for resisting the fraudulent activities of the erstwhile HoS, Dom Onwuzuruigbo. He also made a personal donation of #250,000.00 to the Nulge leadership to assist in the building of Union's Secretariat. He ensured salaries were paid without hiccups.
With the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic, Eke Idika ensured effective lock of the borders & made made personal palliative donations to some communities to cushion the effect of the lockdown. The crisis management exhibited by the Chairman during the events of 18/4/20 that led to the burning of the police facilities, the courts & looting of properties by hoodlums who hijacked the demonstration of some aggrieved youths occasioned by the unnecessary killing of one Ifeanyi Arunsi had been commended by all & sundry. At the moment, the police station will soon be handed back to the police high command for use. One other commendable achievement of the Chairman is the reroofing & renovation of women development centre housing the hall of fame which was neglected by previous administrations.
A man who values his words; Hon Idika fulfilled his promise of March 2020 by making a personal donation of a sienna bus to the Ohafia Vigilante Services on Monday 29/6/20. The bus was bought from his security vote. Their Highneses, Eze Elder S.A Okorie & Igwe Ojike described the donation as unprecedented & further ascribed the virtues of sincerity, uprightness, humility, honesty of purpose & a rare breed on the Chairman. According to the highly placed Traditional Rulers, Hon Fred Eke Idika is the "Ekwueme of Ohafia"
These & other unwritten ones are the reasons why the reappointment is deserved.
