In the past four years, back to back, Abia State ranked number ONE in performance in West Africa School Certificate Examinations in Nigeria. In addition to building 359 new classroom blocks and four new model schools, Governor Ikpeazu used Australian Education providers to retrain more than 3,000 Abia School teachers and subsequently established a continuous teachers training institute in Umuahia.
The Ikpeazu administration is also feeding primary 4-6 pupils while the federal Govt is complimenting the effort by feeding primary 1-3 pupils in Abia public schools. More than 5300 cooks are employed in the school feeding program with directive from the Governor that they must also feed their own children and teachers.
As a result of the focused efforts of the Governor, public school enrollment in Abia State has improved from 142,000 in 2015 to over 650,000 currently.
