Reports reaching us indicate that the factional candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abia State, Dr Uche Lawani Sampson Ogah, is currently enmeshed in another financial crises following the garnisheeing of his bank accounts by one of his numerous creditors.
Ogah who joined APC last year has been having serious financial crises following his Supreme Court defeat by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as he is heavily indebted to many creditors who sponsored his long drawn judicial challenge of the validity of Governor Ikpeazu’s election in 2015. A court in Lagos, on Friday, ordered Ogah and his company, Master Energy, to pay four hundred million naira (N400,000,000.00) to one Chief Uduma Okoro Kalu from Ohafia Local Government Area of the state over a long standing debt.
The court directed that all funds in Ogah’s Account be frozen until the debt is fully paid.
Following the ruling of the court, Mr Ogah has made repeated attempts to reach out to his creditor who filed the initial case against him in 2016 for refusal to pay his debt believed to be related to the case he filed against Governor Ikpeazu.
According to Chief Uduma Okoro, the President of Master Energy, who recently sold off filling stations to settle other debts, showed him the certificate of return issued by INEC following the Justice Okon Abang judgement and assured him that as soon as he becomes Governor of Abia State he will pay back the money.
Recently when Uduma contacted Ogah, he told him to exercise patience as he has been assured that Aso Rock will support him to execute “Ekiti strategy” and make him the Governor in 2019. Sensing another attempt to deceive him, Chief Uduma who learned that Masters Energy was among the companies expected to receive subsidy payment on Friday, assembled a team of lawyers and approached a Lagos High Court which issued the garnishee order against the factional Uturu born business man and his companies.
Attempts made to reach Mr Ogah for his comment on the unfolding story proved abortive. But a source familiar with the matter confirmed that Ogah’s accounts were blocked on Friday and told our reporter that Ogah has been trying to settle the matter out of court and pleaded for time to enable him pay the debt.
According to our source, Ogah who is owing thirteen months salary of his workers told Uduma that he is expecting subsidy payments from the federal government and will pay 30% of the amount due to Uduma as he needs money to proaecute his election campaign
It will be recalled that online news sources recently published the story of Uche Ogah begging Anambra born Billionaire, Chief Arthur Eze, for a loan of one billion naira to enable him contest 2019 Governorship election in Abia State but was turned down. Ogah subsequently denied the story through his media aide, GreatImo Jonathan, who described the story as fake and assured that Ogah is still capable of funding his campaign.
