Following the successful training of 30 Abia Shoe Makers in automated Shoe making in China, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has made good his promise to import and deploy the equipment they worked with in China to drive local automation of shoe making processes.
The equipment are currently in Aba and the process of setting up the first automated shoe factory in the city is ongoing.
The trainees are expected to run the new factory and also train others with a view to expanding capacity in automated shoe making.
Ultimately, it is expected that local talents will drive mass production of high quality shoes in Aba with the shoe makers gradually migrating to full automation.
