It was a sad day when the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited the palace of Ataoja of Osogbo to present his party's candidate.
Addressing the Osogbo monarch in the most shocking manner, Tinubu told the king that Osun people are too poor for him to be interested in their wealth.
Kabiyesi, you people are too poor. You don't have my money. In fact, Osun does not have Oyetola's money. What is in Osun for me to be an Ajele over? the party chief boasted.
Tinubu rubs salt to injury when he noted further : We are only here to help you, to give opportunities to your children. What is here to be an Ajele over?
In what should have attracted reprimand, those who accompanied Tinubu to the event hailed him even as palace sources said the Monarch was shocked and surprised at that affront.
Realising the weight of his statement, Tinubu attempted to walk his words back, repeatedly saying I should not say this before Kabiyesi
But he ended up repeating the fact that Osun is too poor and himself and Oyetola are richer than Osun state.
A palace source said most Osogbo chiefs at the event left with rude shock.
One of them was quoted as saying : " You pauperised us and you still use it to ridicule us.
God will judge"
