NIGER DELTA MINISTRY SET TO COMMISSION EROSION AND FLOOD CONTROL IN ABIA STATE.





 The Niger Delta Development Commission is poised to tackle erosion menace in the Niger Delta region. The Minister for State Niger Delta stated this during their meeting with the Abia state government at Government house Umuahia. He said they are happy to be in Abia state to commission a project executed by the ministry as part of their way of tackling erosion and flood menace in all the Niger Delta region which Abia state is part of as the state is prone to erosion and flood as he also used the opportunity to commend Abia state government on her prompt attention given to erosion sites and flood control using Umuagu Erosion and that of Isuikwuato as examples.

The Governor of Abia state Dr Okezie Ikpeazu who was ably represented by his Deputy Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu thanked the ministry for coming in to help the state as the kind of erosion seen in the state is no more a state affairs but now a national issue as he drew their attention to the erosion site at Isuikwuato which have divided the federal road as he plead that the ecological fund made for Abia state should be released so as to help the state tackle many of the erosion and flood problems in the state and call on the ministry to always carry the state along as the state is ready to partner with the ministry in developing Abia state.
