@GovernorIkpeazu Shows Sensitivity To Sanitary Situation In Ukwa Land

By Sir Don Ubani;KSC,JP

Any person, either in the chamber or corridor of power, that has no feelings for the masses  has no moral justification parading himself or herself as a leader.

A Leader must be one who has passion for his  or her people. Whoever that keeps aloof while his people suffocate in agony, should rather quantify himself as a sadist than a leader.

Of late, the distinct cultural peoples of Asa and Ndoki, for purposes of political administration known as Ukwa-West and Ukwa-East, have experienced very poor sanitary conditions in their major towns.

Obehie-Asa, Ogwe-Asa, Obuzor-Asa, Imo River, Unintelligent, all in Asa and Akwete-Ndoki, Obohia-Ndoki, Ohambele-Ndoki and Azumini-Ndoki, all in Ndoki, have become sites of refuse heaps in very dangerous state of decomposition, with offensive putrid stench.

The sanitary situation was completely beyond the intervention of the administration of the two Local Government Councils in the areas.

In response to the worrisome development which had already started affecting the State of health of our people, the Leader of Peoples Democratic Party in Ukwa-West and Chairman of Abia State Oil Producing Area Development Commission; Chief Sam Okezie Nwogu, in consultation with a few stakeholders in Asa, notably Sir Don Ubani, Barr Henry Chilaka and Chief Ikpechukwu Onuoha, met and agreed to present the situation to the Governor of the State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D, for needful intervention.

In the course of the discussion, the Leader and Stakeholders reached a consensus that Comrade John Ajuzieogu be recommended as the Cordinator of Abia State Environmental Protection Agency; ASEPA, for Ukwa Zone.

No sooner had the request been presented to Governor Ikpeazu than he magnanimously granted approval for the establishment of ASEPA Ukwa Zone and appointment of Comrade John Ajuzieogu as its Cordinator.

The Leader; Chief Sam Okezie Nwogu, requested Sir Don Ubani, to monitor the administrative process of realizing the objectives.

Being a very familiar terrain, Sir Don Ubani, the Okwubunka of Asa Gburugburu, pursued the the assignment with devotion and accuracy.

Sir Ubani monitored the laid down bureaucratic procedure from the office of the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Sir Emma Nwabuko to the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Eme Okoro, to the office of the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Sir Linus Ogbuokiri, back to the SSG for signing and finally to the office of the Permanent Secretary, Government House.

To the glory of God, the appointment letter of Comrade John Ajuzieogu as Cordinator of ASEPA, Ukwa Zone, was released to Sir Don Ubani yesterday, Wednesday 12th September, 2018, about 5pm.

I got back to Aba about 6.30 pm and about 7.30pm the letter had been collected by the latest political appointee in the State,  Comrade John Ajuzieogu.

On behalf the Leader of PDP in Ukwa-West,  Chief Sam Okezie Nwogu and the Stakeholders who came together to address the sanitary challenges that confronted our people, I thank Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and his Principal Aides for making this objective a fulfilled one.
