Constitutional and human rights lawyer, Dr. ACB Agbazuere on Tuesday, after successful payment of the compulsory N1.5M, picked the nomination and expression of interest forms of the people's democratic party (PDP) to contest for the seat of Isiala Ngwa North/South federal constituency in 2019.
Addressing his supporters shortly after his arrival at Sam Mbakwe airport, Imo state, Dr. Agbazuere said that, the constituency and constituents have been without a representative for close to four years, which made him answer the clarion call of his people to extend his human rights fight into the political affairs of the federal constituency.
The ex-council boss who was received by over 1000 youths, women development union, pro groups, and party leaders said, " my people have suffered a lot, no federal presence in our constituency to compliment the good works of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu and that of projects attracted by Sen. T A Orji.
" we are not being represented well, that is if at all we have anybody representing the constituency at the green chambers of the national assembly since 2015.
"Our youths need proper skill acquisition, our mothers need interest free loans, we need a federal presence at almost all the roads in Ehi Na Uguru... What have we benefitted from 2015- 2017 budgets? Absolutely nothing!.
" I am a human right lawyer! Today, I have picked this the PDP's nomination/expression of interest form as one of the weapons to fight injustice in Isiala Ngwa North and South federal constituency
We cannot do everything in the court of law and whatever it constitutionally takes to fight and liberate my people from the wrong choice we made in 2015, I will do it."
The former commissioner for information, culture, and tourism enjoined the youths to come together and make a difference.
" This is a clarion call for all the youths to come together. If we can all come together, we can make a difference. I am very young to lead us and this is our time. Our past leaders have done their best, let the youths come and let’s see what they can actually do to bring about even distribution of economic goods and services.
"As a lawmaker, I hope to provide for our people,
the basic infrastructure that is lacking in our communities and
make our people happy.
"I want to empower our people, build schools etc. As
lawmakers, although it is not in our power to build schools but
what I will do is to be in a good working relationship with the
federal ministries, agencies and as well as the international donor agencies so that the basic social amenities required by the
the constituency will be provided.
"I will ensure that the artisans, vulcanizers, hairdressers etc.,
are empowered with the needed tools to work within my
constituency. I also hope to provide scholarships.
I believe that government should be all about the people, not
about the leaders but about those who put them there."
The 2015 house of representatives aspirant who dropped his ambition because of what he described as "fighting for the Ngwa interest" promised to work with his fellow lawmakers and
the executive arm to ensure that the welfare of his people is
taken care of.
He insisted that the past and present leaders have no doubt
done their best which he said it's obviously not enough as nothing has been done positively in the constituency
"Our Isiala Ngwa North and South is in a sorry state because the present lawmaker representing the constituency is not in good terms with the executive, so there is no development at all in the
area, he said."
