There were sighs of relief from many Cross-Riverians as the state governor Professor Ben Ayade picked his expression of interest and nomination forms Thursday. The Chief of Staff to the governor, Mr. Martin Orim, led other members of TEAM AYADE to the Wadata House national secretariat of the Peoples' Democratic Party, PDP to collect the forms on behalf of the governor.
Orim announced this to the delight of many Cross Riverians aftwr collecting the form.
This came just few days after the Governor received yet another accolade from the United Nations Development Programme for his leadership style.
The development by Orim and some other top political actors in the state led to wild jubiliation across the state yesterday as many people expressed excitement .
According to some cross riverians the collection of the nomination form on behalf of the governor would ensure continous good governanace in the state.
The collection of the form in the opinion of some cross riverians has taken away their fears that the life changing projects of Ayade might be discontinued by succeeding administration.
Many groups even vowed to purchase the forms for the governor so as to encourage him to run. But with this development, these well-meaning citizens can now heave a sigh of relief. It also put paid to the unfounded rumour making the round that Ayade wanted to decamp from the PDP.
Commenting on the development, a PDP chieftain in the state, chief Austin Akan said "it is time to repay the governor for all his good works since 2015". Stakeholders in the state as well as political observers across the nation are of the opinion that the election will be a walk over for Governor Ayade.
