Abia state government has move to ensure road worthiness of vehicles plying on its road with the expected setting up of computerized vehicle road worthiness bay.
Speaking when he paid an inspection visit at the first Computerised Vehicle Road Worthiness Bay in Abuja, the deputy governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu said the state government would partner with the firm through provision of enabling environment and land for the setting up of the bay while the company will provide the equipment.
Sir Oko Chukwu expressed satisfaction at the operations at the bay and noted that every vehicle in the country ought to pass through road worthiness inspection process in order to reduce the spate of road accidents and ensure improved safety on our roads.
He commended the Managing Director of the outfit, Mr. Segun Obayendo for coming up with such initiative and assured of the willingness of state government to replicate same in Abia.
In his remarks, Mr. Segun Obayendo said the outfit Inspects and certifies vehicles for use on Nigerian roads with various testing devices which audit vehicles to dictate their road worthiness and full safety standards.
According to Mr. Obayendo, the test ranges from tyres, engine, wheel balancing, head lamps, bolt joints to thyroids among other parts of the car adding that they do full diagnostic and sketch graph.
He said they would embarked on sensitization and public enlightenment to ensure enforcement and revealed that the contract for the Abia project has been awarded and payment made for the equipment adding that the project would be completed within five months.
