ABIA STATE TO EMBRACE THE SOCIAL SAFETY NET PROGRAMME



Today marks another milestone in the efforts of our Governor Okezie Ikpeazu Ph.D towards alleviating the sufferings of the socio-economically vulnerable citizens in Abia state . The social safety Net Programme is dear to the Abia state government as it is one of the means to address issues of insecurity, unemployment, school drop-out syndrome and ensure robust planning for vulnerable persons so as to achieve even development.

  The Governor of Abia state who was ably represented by his amiable Deputy Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu stated that the creation of the ministry in charge of Vulnerable Groups and keying into the National Social Safety Net Programme (NASSP) is to provide safety Nets system building blocks that will enable his administration target and deliver a range of programmes to poor households effectively and efficiently.

  Governor Ikpeazu stated this through his Deputy at a 4 day training workshop for community Based Targeting Team (CBTT) and Enumerators organized by the National Social Safety Net coordinating office (NASSCO) Abuja in collaboration with Abia state government held at Kolping society Umuahia..

  In his opening remarks, The Special Adviser to the Governor on Youths Development and Job Creation Mr Chinenye Nwaogu who is also the Focal Person of this programme, welcomed everyone to the ceremony as he thanked the Governor of Abia state and office of the Vice President of the Country for making the training a reality and also used the opportunity to state the state government readiness in making sure that the programme will record a huge success in the state,as he also thank the state planning commission for all their supports.

The Permanent Secretary/Executive Secretary Abia state planning commission Ugoeze Adanma Ihuwa,The Commissioner for Boundary and conflict resolution Hon Obike Imo Mascot ,the Commissioner Vulnerable Groups Mrs Precious Achumba and many other top government officials were present during the ceremony...
