ABIA STATE AUTONOMY: We are made to understand that Abiapoly obtained it's Autonomous status long time ago. So what is the fuss about the government not paying Abiapoly workers their salaries as at when due. The workers should stop deceiving the public with such malicious claims of being owed many months of salaries because they are the ones owing themselves. That the Government in their benevolence manner sees it as a point of duty to rescue the ailing and almost dead institution with some certain amount of money in the way of subvention should not be taken as a yearly religion or an advantage over the government by the school administrators. I expect the school management to even credit the account of the Abia State Government with a very substantial amount from the excess of the fund generated per semester. Subvention by the Abia State Government which is somehow seen as a privilege should not be termed as full RIGHT by the school Authority unless if their is a state law backing such arrangement. It us on record that the population of Abiapoly students is very capable of taking care of the finances and smooth running of that institution without difficulties or hassles. In public Administration Department alone, we have more than 3,500 students for both morning and evening students.
#2B ABIAPOLY LOANS: The 2B Naira loan that was borrowed by the school in the past was uncalled for. Go to the school or check their assets, you will not see any evidence or sign that the said amount has been invested lately in that school. I believe the money in question was used for personal aggrandisement and affluence by the former management and the people that participated in securing that loan. I don't want to believe that the bankers involved in issuing such loan either cajoled or coaxed Abiapoly management at that time to accept the terms ans conditions of such loan if not for the greed that could be envisaged in the eyeballs of the people that facilitated that loan. Mr. Commissioner Sir, please endeavour to encourage the Governor to call for the books relating to that miserable loan or better still, let His Excellency set up a committee to unravel the circumstances surrounding both the acquisition of that loan and the utilization of same. Even though the loan in question has been settled and the school bailed out from it's unrepentant approach to the management of their resources by our promise keeping Governor but their is need for Abians to know what really transpired in respect of that loan and to avoid same mistakes because that loan was unnecessarily acquired.
THE PURPOTED SACK OF ABOUT 500 ABIAPOLY WORKERS: This issue of over staffing in the Abia State Polytechnics has been over emphasized for too long, what I think we should be talking about is taking the appropriate steps in downsizing the number of staff in that institution. I will continue to support the government of the day in it's legitimate quest and efforts to purge and sanitise that institution of impunity and various crime related tendencies which has for years become an impediment to the growth and smooth running of the school. There should be 100% spiritual and physical cleansing of the workforce in that school and no preferential treatment should be given to anyone found culpable in undermining the laid down procedures of the institution/the good intention of this present administration led by His Excellency Dr. Okezie Chibuikem Victor Ikpeazu.
Those with falsified documents or have been indicted in crime related offence, people that were hired through the back door and those that are due for retirement should be shown the way out or better still excorted to the school gate and hand over to the appropriate government authorities for prosecution in accordance with the law. Please note that a whole lot of workers in that institution have no business being there, most times you see Abiapoly workers loitering about therefore contributing nothing to the growth of the school.
