Abia Government to partner BuzzFM– Commissioner

Abia State Government is ready to partner with newly opened Buzz FM Radio Station at Aba to promote economic activities in Aba and the State in general.

Abia State Commissioner for information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, who disclosed this when he received the General Manager of Buzz FM and his team in his office, commended the station for making the promotion of entrepreneurship in Aba their broadcast priority and focus, in line with the economic advancement agenda of the State Government.

The information boss used the opportunity to advise the management of the radio station against politicizing the mass broadcast medium and charged them to remain resolutely focused on development promoting programs and expressed optimism that their presence in Abia State will help to further create wealth and employment opportunities in the state.

According to him, “we are happy to welcome BuzzFM to the commercial capital of the South East and note with happiness your avowed mission of promoting entrepreneurship at Aba and Abia State. In my view that is the way to go as against deploying your resources to serve politicians and their interests. Whatever politics touches it tends to destroy and my advice to you is to ensure that BuzzFM is not destroyed by partisan politics but instead positions itself above partisan politicking”.

He stated that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is following the footsteps of late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe in spreading prosperity to the people through his integrated development agenda founded on the 5 development pillars of his administration.

Chief Okiyi Kalu charged the management team  to assist in informing and educating the people on the activities of the state government, especially with regards to the unprecedented infrastructure development efforts. He disclosed that more than 30 roads have been reconstructed and delivered at Aba by the Ikpeazu administration within 30 months while the age-old Ukwu-Mango flooding challenge along Faulks (Ariaria) road has been defeated by the administration of Governor Ikpeazu.

The Commissioner used the opportunity to inform the Station managers that “the Ikpeazu administration has started work along Port Harcourt road Aba with the heaps of refuse around Crystal Park junction already being evacuated to enable Setraco quickly open a section of the all important road to traffic, in support of our local fabricators and residents of the area”.

Speaking earlier, the General Manager, Buzz FM Abia, Mr Chu Nwankwo described Buzz FM as one of the newest radio stations in Abia State which commenced full commercial transmission on the first of January, 2018.

Mr Nwankwo expressed the management’s readiness to partner and promote the development ideals of the State Government with regards to promotion of Made in Aba and expressed satisfaction with the achievements of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, especially on road construction.
